No need to take out the various router jigs to mortise hinges and other hardware! If you are installing one or two hinges, doing it by hand is fast and surprisingly easy.
In this class, Joel will demonstrate mortising butt hinges using basic hand tools, then work with each member of the class to mortise in a hinge. The class will also give an overview of hinges and their uses. The class will use top-of-the-line Brusso butt hinges. The principles taught in the class can be applied to all size boxes and any size traditional butt or box hinges.
All materials, including wood and and Brusso butt hinges, will be provided for use in the class. Some needed tools will be provided for use during the class. In addition, students must bring or purchase certain tools for the class, including a chisel, a small square, a mallet, a marking knife and one or two marking gauges.
Update: Class has already been held.
